Community

Team SAGE brings families, educators, coaches, mentors, professionals, and community organizations together to help scholar-athletes succeed.

Stronger together

Community is part of the program

Young people thrive when the adults and institutions around them work together with purpose.

Team SAGE uses resource networking and coalition building to connect scholar-athletes with academic support, mentors, healthy activities, college exposure, professional guidance, and opportunities to serve others.

Our approach extends beyond the basketball court. We help build a support system that encourages students to become accountable scholars, responsible citizens, college graduates, and future community leaders.

“The goal is not only to help young people succeed, but to prepare them to reach back and lift others as they advance.”
The Team SAGE philosophy
How we engage

Building a network around every scholar-athlete

01

Family engagement

Parents and guardians are essential partners in reinforcing attendance, academic effort, personal responsibility, and healthy choices.

02

Professional mentoring

Professionals from diverse careers help students understand college majors, career options, leadership, and workplace expectations.

03

Peer leadership

Older students and athletes support younger participants through teach-and-learn experiences, encouragement, and positive example.

04

Community service

Service projects help scholar-athletes practice citizenship, empathy, teamwork, and responsibility to the neighborhoods around them.

05

Educational workshops

Community experts lead conversations about health, nutrition, relationships, law, culture, peer pressure, and social responsibility.

06

Safe, structured activity

Organized sports, tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment provide constructive support during critical after-school hours.

Coalition building
